July 2nd Bangor Daily News Story. Chris Bouchard of the BDN came to Cross Lake on July 2nd to write a story about Cross Lake, water quality monitoring, and the annual Maine Audubon Loon Count. The online version is here Aroostook lakes need more water quality monitor volunteers, and the print version came out Wednesday, July 9th in The County newspaper. It was good publicity for FOCL! (Note: there is one mistake – the Loon Count on July 19th is only ½ hour from 7 - 7:30 am, not until 7:30 pm.)
July 17th WAGM Water Quality Monitoring Story. Megan Waceken of WAGM was at Cross Lake Thursday, July 17th to do a story about water quality monitoring during our annual training event. The online text and video are here Local volunteers dive into water quality monitoring. This was also good publicity for FOCL! You can read more about our water quality monitoring under Projects – Water Quality.
July 19th WAGM Maine Audubon Loon Count Story. Megan was also at Cross Lake again on Saturday, July 19th to do a story about the annual Maine Audubon Loon Count. The online text and video are here Annual loon count: volunteers needed on Northern Maine's lakes. She did a great job with both stories. An exciting note is that we did get to count our two loon chicks in the north end of the lake! You can read more about loons on Cross Lake under Projects – Maine’s Loon Stewardship.
August 4th Maine Calling Broadcast. Cheryl St. Peter, FOCL’s Project Manager, participated in Maine Calling’s Algal Blooms broadcast August 4, 2025.
December 24th & January 8th TheCounty.ME. A press release was published in TheCounty.ME print edition in December and online in January about our Phase II grant completion titled Friends of Cross Lake complete grant work. You can read more about our Phase II Grant under Projects – Phase II Grant.
