Agricultural Conservation

With the County of Aroostook and many other partners, we were successful in our Phase II Implementation Grant application! 😊 This two-year grant will provide funding for the agricultural conservation practices of winter cover on 800 acres and multispecies cover on 480 acres (both NRCS Code 340) of cultivated cropland in the Daigle & Dickey Brook and Cross Lake watersheds.

Education and Outreach

The grant also includes an education and outreach component, including two press releases, two roundtable talks by the University of Maine Cooperative Extension, 8 LakeSmart evaluations annually, at least two articles in the St. John Valley Soil & Water Conservation District newsletters, and meetings with the watershed town select boards or town councils.
